Tony Carey - Sweden concerts in March 2005

Tony Carey @ Old Small's ©Rolle Just half a year ago I would never have dreamed of being the one who would bring Tony here to Sweden… After a lot of arrangements and coordination (much more than I first thought) it was finally time to pick Tony and Pascal up at the airport - kind of a surreal moment for me…

Two concerts were arranged this time, first at Village (again) and then at "Old Small's" both concerts here in my hometown Västerås. This time Swedish radio would be there too to record the concert (at Village), later to be broadcasted at national radio P4 and maybe even P3?… in a very late moment (5 hours before the concert) Tony also approved the Village concert to be recorded on video, if we get lucky there might be something released in the end?…

A full Village gave Tony and Pascal a warm welcome when they entered the stage. A stage that was set with lots of candles that gave a very cosy atmosphere for the concert. Tony started the concert with “be free” and continued with five more songs from Island & Deserts, this was the very first time Tony played those songs live. Tony and Pascal played for over two hours and the audience was enthusiastic and hard listening. There’s just one thing that I regret from this concert, I should have rearranged the tables so that people from the bar could reach the stage. Now we had a whole bunch of “true believers” standing at the back of Village… also I get to know what it’s like to be the “booker”, it was hard to relax and enjoy the show, so I promised myself to change this for the second night! :-)

The second night was located downstairs in a small club formerly known as “Small’s”, we can call it “Old Small’s”. This evening there weren’t any tables "stopping" the “true believers” and the audience was intimate gathered. There where about 80 people that later would sound like 200, the new songs like “be free”, “king of fools” and “it’s your party” got full choir support from the audience right from the beginning this evening – gives me goose bumps just thinking about it… and so it continued trough the whole night. This concert is the best TC performance I’ve witnessed so far, Tony and Pascal were so “close together” and the numerous improvisations were outstanding! This second concert also had a really great sound (thanks Kent) and I myself was more relaxed and was more focused so that I could absorb this show to 100%. :-)

Thanks Tony and Pascal for two wonderful concerts - those memories will last a lifetime!

I also want to thank the following people for their great support and help: Johanna (of course), Kent Eriksson - Mälarljud, Peter E and his brother, Lasse, Annika and those of you I might have forgotten…

Thanks to all the fans that came here and made those concerts so special - thanks to Ole for giving Johanna and me our room back! ;-)
